I'm a 25 year old male who resides in Lansing, MI. I am a Supervisor in the Technical Support Department for a Web Hosting company which has its own datacenter here in Lansing. The server this site runs on is located in that datacenter, naturally. I love Linux, and computers in general. I am a HAM Radio operator, and a member of the Lansing RACES and Skywarn groups here. I am the AEC (Assistant Emergency Coordinator) of the Ingham County Skywarn group. I love sports, especially professional football and hockey. I play in multiple Fantasy Football leagues each year.
A big hobby of mine is chasing storms. It's mostly a hobby, but I have sold video in the past and been featured on TV stations all over the country. I have even done a phone with Jim Cantore on The Weather Channel. You can read more about my storm chasing and past chases.
I'm also involved with Amateur Radio. I took and passed my Amateur Radio Technician class license test in May of 2005. My callsign is WX8BEN. I passed my General exam in January of 2008 so that I could operate on HF bands.
Another one of my big hobbies is riding roller coasters. To date, I have ridden almost 100 different coasters. My favorite is the Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. I enjoy visiting Cedar Point and other parks during the summer on my days off and when I'm not storm chasing. Thankfully, bad weather makes good storm chasing, and good weather makes roller coaster riding enjoyable.
My primary job function is to support Linux and Windows web servers, so naturally computers take up a lot of my time. I have my own server which this website runs off of, among other things. I am a total Linux nut, and use it almost exclusively on all of my systems. I've become a major user of open source software as well in the past few years. I only use Windows occasionally now to play video games or to use some specific software and for storm chasing. I also enjoy working on web sites in my spare time. I keep my website updated along with the Lansing ARPSC website.
I enjoy going to Detroit Red Wings games, and have seem the play in 5 different Arenas quite a number of times. Here's a list of all the games I have been to:
