Chase Narrative:
We spent the 13th at the Carlsbad Caverns in Carlsbad, NM and had reservations for the Hampton Inn in Lubbock. Unfortunately, they were overbooked and we were out of luck when we got to Lubbock. Even further annoying was the fact that no hotels in town seemed to have any rooms and we were forced to go to Amarillo.
We had a long grueling drive to Amarillo, arriving after 3 am completely exhausted. The least the Hampton Inn did was cover the cost of the rooms in Amarillo, and off to sleep we went until late in the morning. Our intention was to head back to Norman and wind down for the rest of the chase cation before everyone left on Sunday, but a SPC slight risk and some favorable morning model runs had us turning our attention to southwest Kansas.
After some breakfast Chick Fil A, we were headed north and east to Pampa and then north out of Pampa. In retrospect, that was the wrong call with landspouts being reported near Campo (I hate that town) when we were just north of Garden City.
We turned around and headed back to the storm which produced the landspout, but didn't find anything very interesting and ended up back in Garden City where a couple semis had been blown off the highway.
I acquired a new laptop from David Drummond and was able to at least render my video this time, and got it uploaded.
We headed north and booked the Hampton Inn in North Platte Nebraska which is always a very nice hotel to stay at. This was no exception as the lady at the desk upgraded us to a suite to allow us to sleep on a rollaway bed and not have to get 2 rooms.
