I started the day filling my tire up in Dodge City. After the crazy day before, I had 2 tires with holes in them. So I put the spare on the one leaking faster and kept pumping up the other damaged tire. I had to drive to Wichita/Derby to get them fixed. I hadn’t really thought much of chasing that day, as the SPC test was negative. That is, I looked at the SPC site, saw the 2%, and figured I had time to get this tire fixed.
Around 4pm, Jari and I were devouring burritos in Chipotle next to Discount Tire. While looking over data, we realized this would be a chase day. Fortunately, we had some stout updrafts around us and it felt thick outside. It looked like there were 2 boundaries to play, one near Wichita in a SW/NE fashion, more E/W than N/S. The one up north was further away and in a due East/West pattern.
Like an idiot I kept believing in the southern boundary and busted. Yet another chase day where I was distracted by outside factors and busted.
Anyway, we took the consolation prize at dusk in Northern Oklahoma. The lightning was alright and the structure was good.
