I decided to hit the road over the holiday weekend and head west. It’s a little over 8 hours in the car to Carlsbad Caverns National Park from Norman. We headed out Friday after work and drove to Hobbs. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Hobbs and then headed to the park the next day.
Once at the park, we hiked down through the natural entrance. I brought a tripod, unlike the last time I visited the park. For being the 4th of July weekend, the crowds were not too bad. It seemed like the elevator was busy during the lunch time, but we practically had the big room to ourselves after 5pm.
I spent the night in Midland before heading home the next day.
