Chase Recap:

We woke up in Dumas with a mostly optimistic view that there might be tornadoes south of there. My original target was southwest of Childress, but I thought Tulia or Plainview might be a good place to start.

Heading South

We departed Dumas and headed to Amarillo before dropping south to Tulia. From there we headed east to see some storms that had popped up. They were east of Tulia and mostly linear/stringy looking as they moved off the dryline. We sat near Silverton for awhile trying to decide which storm to head towards. None of the storms were looking dominant. Eventually we repositioned to Brice and sat nearly an hour watching multiple storms pulse up and collapse.

Floydada Storm

Ended up chasing the ‘tail end charlie’ on the line eventually. The storm started near Floydad and we followed it east through Memphis and to Hedly. In Hedly we became somewhat more optimistic that it might produce. It produced a few good cycles before falling apart. By the time it reached I-40 it had pretty much dissipated. So we used I-40 to head back to OKC and home.
