Chase Recap:

The famous Rozel day that many saw one of the more photogenic tornadoes this decade. I wasn’t ever targeting Kansas, and wanted to stay along the dryline in Oklahoma. Temperature/Dewpoint spreads were quite high down there, however, so I had almost written the day off in terms of tornado production. There was a few days coming up that I was looking forward to, and this was supposed to just be the “day before the day” type deal.

Eventually we made it up through Cherokee, OK and into southern Kansas, but not far enough north. There was some confusion between David Drummond and I were the low was centered as we wanted to kind of stick close to the center of the low. We ended up sitting near Coldwater, KS and watched mostly outflow dominant storms before trying to make a run north out of Ashland once the tornado reports started pouring in. We were too late and missed one of the better tornadoes in awhile.

The mood was pretty crappy on the ride home, stopping in Woodward before heading back to Norman..
