Chase Recap:

Preparation

Zack and I started talking about Hurricane Delta as it hung out in the Caribbean. The models showed possible strengthening as it moved across the Gulf of Mexico towards a landfall in Louisiana. The timing would be convenient to a chase, and why not?

I setup our car and hotel in Morgan City. We considered leaving Wednesday night, but delayed departure to Thursday morning.

Heading to the Coast

Thursday morning we packed up and headed for Louisiana. Zack was driving and I was in the back seat working all day. Of course, we had a Buc-ees break. Hurricane Delta had a fantastic look on visible satellite all day, with strong convection and a pinhole eye. Delta regained category 3 status, but was expected to weaken some due to shear.

We arrived in Morgan City as evening fell. Luckily there was a lot of places open, and we were able to get some dinner.

Landfall of Hurricane Delta

We woke up in the morning feeling fully refreshed. Heading west towards Lake Charles, we decided to setup near Jennings.
